Introduction

Welcome to my office, a sanctuary for productivity, filled with products to boost my mental wellness. I really struggle with keeping focus and motivation while working from home. However I can now get content out faster and more effectively. I’m excited to share with you the top 10 products that have become essential in promoting mental well-being and reducing stress in my workspace. From soothing aromatherapy to calming yoga practices, these items have transformed my office into a place of tranquility and mindfulness. Aromatherapy Diffuser:

Transform your office into a calming oasis with the power of scent. An diffuser fills the air with soothing essential oils, reducing stress, and boosting your mental wellness. My favorite diffuser in my office is the URPOWER 2nd Version Essential Oil Diffuser on amazon. Stress Balls or Fidget Toys:

Give your hands something to do while your mind is at work. Stress balls or fidget toys provide a tactile outlet for stress. This allows you to squeeze, roll, or manipulate them, helping to relieve tension and enhance mental wellness. I love stress balls and even putty while I work to keep my hands busy. As a serial nail bitter it also helps me stop stress biting while I work. I enjoy some more minimal looking fidgets so it doesn’t look “off” in my office. Some of my favorite types of fidgets are fidget cube, stress balls, and putty. (Specifically crazy aarons thinking putty as its not sticky)

Himalayan Salt Lamp:

Harness the natural healing properties of Himalayan salt with a salt lamp. The warm, gentle glow emitted by this lamp not only creates a cozy atmosphere. This also helps purify the air and create a serene environment conducive to stress reduction. I actually have TWO salt lamps in my office. One small one on my desk and one large brightness controlled by my “meditation corner”. I love my salt lamps for the glow it gives off, as well as the whole vibe it brings to my office!

Weighted Blanket:

Wrap yourself in comfort and relaxation with a weighted blanket. The gentle pressure offered by a weighted blanket can provide a calming effect, reducing anxiety and promoting better sleep quality. Now I don’t usually use my weighted blanket in my office chair. However, I use it as soon as I’m done in my office to de-stress from the work day. It helps me switch off work mode, along with a hot cup of coffee/white claw. I do use regular blankets in my office to keep me comfy and warm as well. I do however have a throw blanket in my office to keep me warm. My favorite type of aesthetically pleasing throw blanket is the Utopia Bedding Fleece Blanket. Which is anti static and lightweight so I don’t fall asleep!

Yoga Mat:

Unroll your yoga mat and indulge in a mini mindfulness session in your office. Engaging in yoga or stretching exercises on a comfortable mat can help alleviate stress, improve focus, and enhance mental wellness. I have a mini meditation area in my office that includes crystals, a yoga mat, and a diffuser. I like my yoga mat to stretch out in-between jobs so my legs can move. Sitting at a desk all day can be hard. I enjoy my yoga mat to increase my circulation and to have a quick reset between my work.

Meditation Cushion:

Create a designated space for mindfulness and meditation with a dedicated meditation cushion. This supportive cushion provides comfort during meditation practices. Allowing you to find moments of peace and tranquility amidst a busy workday. This can be a dedicated pillow or cousin or anything they is big enough and comfy to sit on. This is meant to help you sit comfortably and meditate, take a break, and calm down. I prefer to have mine in the opposite corner of the room than my desk. Then I play some music and relax and reset myself. The one I have was $60 (Canadian) on amazon, unfortunately it is currently unavailable. However, I found one for half the price that is basically the same. Its called “Round Meditation Cushion” and it comes with a removable cover to wash!

Headphones:

I am a hardcore advocate for headphones while working. I tend to play music, podcasts, and nature sounds when I really need to destress. (Tip: opera music really helps when your are struggling to focus). Personally I use noise cancelling due to a lot of outside noise. I have the “Sony WH-CH520 Wireless Headphones” in white. I think they look really clean. They are also durable, with a 50 hour battery, and has a built in mic if I need to make a quick work call.

Coloring Books or Art Supplies:

Tap into your creative side with coloring books or art supplies. Engaging in coloring or art activities can be a therapeutic outlet. Allowing your mind to unwind, fostering mindfulness, and reducing stress. Whether I’m done work and need to decompress, or about to start work and need to wake up and get creative, I reach for my coloring books. I personally stock up on “adult coloring books” that are a bit more advanced and fun to colour.

Light Therapy Lamp:

Combat seasonal blues and regulate your mood with a light therapy lamp. These lamps emit a bright, natural light that mimics sunlight. In turn, helping to alleviate symptoms of seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and promote a more positive mindset. I don’t have a light therapy lamp since I have a lot of windows, however, my old office had one small window and MAN do I wish I had one of these. They help your brain gauge the day by mimicking daylight, which helps your brain know when its time to work and when its not. I looked up some prices of these lamps to find one for you guys. I was able to find a highly liked one that is under $20(Canadian)! its called the FASCARE Night Light. People are loving all the light features like brightness, colour, and timer, I would suggest you check it out!

Mindfulness Journals:

Practice gratitude, self-reflection, and mindfulness with a dedicated journal. Mindfulness journals provide prompts and exercises that encourage you to engage in self-care, boost positivity, and reduce stress. I use a gratitude journal before bed and when I wake up every day. Not every day as a freelancer is going to be good and I definitely understand that. On days that are really rough I use a gratitude journal to help me remain grateful for what I have accomplished so far.

  • Candles: Pick your favorite scents and allow the flame to brighten up your office!
  • Water Bottle: Not just in your office, but for everyday. A hydrated body is a happy mind!
  • Snacks: I have a mini fridge with snack and juices to keep my body happy and healthy throughout my work week
